Trivia
- In the original manuscript for the book, Cassie didn't exist. Jake was called Matt and had a younger brother called Joseph. It was called Changelings.
- Originally Ax was meant come in the second book, but his entrance was delayed when KA realised it was going to be a longer series.
- The word Yeerk came from the elvish word for orc 'yrch' in Lord of the Rings.
- The character Erek Chee was named after an animorphs fan, Erek King. There was a contest and the winner got to have his name in a book.
- Marco got his hair cut in book 10 because the model they wanted to use had short hair, so KA wrote in the haircut in the book.
- The word nothlit, came from an anagram of the hotel Hilton which KA looked at when she was trying to think of the name.
- #22 was dedicated to Jeff Sampson and his friends. Have you ever owned an animorphs website? (I know i've owned a few in my time). Then this book was dedicated to you. Legal reasons prevented KA from naming actual sites, but this dedication was to everyone (like Jeff Sampson) who owned a website dedicated to the Animorphs.
- When an Andalite was on the front cover, they had a person pose for it, then were digitally painted over in photoshop.
- At #41 the order of books changed. They finally gave Tobias and Ax their own book each in every cycle. Something that fans had been petitioning for for a long time!
- In Megamorphs 4, there was a new model for Tobias. He came by accident. When the real Tobias model couldn't make it, they told the agency to send them any old boy, they could digitally alter him to look more like Tobias. So they sent this boy, who turned out to be the perfect Tobias!
- The Absolute was going to be changed to The Consequence, due to some lobbying by an intern and an associate editor, but it wouldn't fit on the spine.
- There was a mix up in between the Ultimate and The Sacrifice. Tuan's name was changed to Timmy, but his name was accidently left as Tuan in #50. They are the same person though!
- KA was considering writing a Taxxon Chronicles about Arbron leading the Taxxon resistance. Unfortunatly it didn't happen, but she included him in #53.
- At the end of MM2, KA had Tobias write a note about how they saw Stegs even though they weren't supposed to be from that time, to cover up her error as she didn't have time to rewrite the scene.
- Megamorphs 4 marked the new era of cover models. The old models all went off to college so they got new ones. The only model that stayed right from the beginning was Cassie (Biko was her real name) because she went to college close enough to continue!
- The reason Visser 3 starred on the cover of Visser was because when KA was planning the book, she thought it would be equally about the two vissers, 1 and 3. By the time she'd written it and realised it was more about Visser One, the cover had already been made.
